American Stories Film Festival™ (ASFF) is a vibrant, quarterly hybrid film festival based in Atlanta and streamed live online. We celebrate independent cinema and authentic storytelling that reflects the depth and diversity of the American experience.
Open to all, ASFF highlights voices from across the country while paying special tribute to the legacy and brilliance of foundational Black American storytelling during Black History Month, Juneteenth, and in October.
We showcase creators from all backgrounds, with a strong focus on historically underserved and underrepresented communities — especially Indigenous storytellers and people of color (POC). These narratives are essential to understanding our shared past, present, and future.
From powerful short films to bold documentaries and innovative narrative work, our selections inspire, provoke, and entertain. We champion filmmakers who take creative risks and tell stories that matter.
American Stories exists for audiences and creators who crave authentic stories and meaningful community.
We stand for:
Creative freedom
Real connection
Supporting emerging and established filmmakers
A film culture that is dynamic, inclusive, and welcoming
While all are welcome to submit, we prioritize narratives that reflect lived experiences too often left out of the spotlight.
In our inaugural season, a top Hollywood producer/director behind a hit Hulu series reviewed select films from our lineup. Each season, we continue to connect with industry professionals seeking bold new voices and original storytelling.
While industry exposure is never guaranteed, American Stories is committed to creating real visibility and opportunity for independent filmmakers.
